Year 7 Warwick Castle Adventure

This week, Year 7 students  embarked on an exciting excursion to Warwick Castle, diving headfirst into medieval history! Perfectly timed ahead of their new module covering William the Conqueror and the Battle of Hastings, the trip gave pupils the chance to tour the historic grounds and take in the live entertainment.

More than two hundred students participated over the two-day trip, displaying exemplary behavior throughout. Whether they were scaling the battlements, discovering the mechanics of the massive trebuchet, or enjoying the bird show, the experience offered valuable hands-on learning that will support their studies back in the classroom.

The visit also served as great preparation for their upcoming history homework project, where students will design their own fortresses. They were encouraged to think about the castle's strategic location and defensive advantages—key concepts for upcoming lessons. Additionally, pupils explored various career paths connected to the historic site, discussing what it would be like to work at such a major venue.

Working brilliantly as a team, the students asked insightful questions, particularly while finding their way through the Horrible Histories maze. To top it all off, brilliant sunshine blessed both days of the trip! The Year 7 cohort truly made the school proud on their very first outing since joining The Friary.
