Hockey Returns at The Friary

The hockey season is officially underway at The Friary, and what a fantastic start it has been! With over 60 students already attending weekly training sessions, it has been brilliant to see such enthusiasm and commitment for the new season. A special welcome goes to our new Year 7 students who have joined the hockey programme and are already contributing to the positive atmosphere that hockey brings to The Friary.

Last night's training match at Lichfield Hockey Club, saw our Year 7 and Year 8 students take part in a full game, and wow, what a performance from the Year 7s! They stepped up brilliantly, showing confidence, determination, and a real understanding of the game. There was some lovely hockey on display, with excellent tactical decisions being made throughout the match.

Particular praise must go to Martha R, Will G, Oliver K, and Katie L, who all stood out with their impressive performances. However, credit should also go to everyone who attended and took part. It was fantastic to see players developing their spatial awareness, teamwork, and passing skills, all of which helped create goalscoring opportunities and some excellent passages of play.

Overall, it was a great training game and an excellent step in preparation for our upcoming fixtures against King Edward's, Queen Mary's Grammar School, and Lichfield Cathedral School.
