Year 10 Geographers recently undertook the compulsory human and physical field trip components of their GCSE course.

The physical field trip involved a visit to Oakamoor to measure the characteristics of a river – standing in a river measuring stone sizes and shapes has never been so exciting!

Students also visited Birmingham to compare green spaces around the city. The temperatures were high – as were the enthusiasm and energy as levels – they walked 4km from East Side Park to the Library Secret Gardens to the Cathedral Grounds.

Susan Gisbourne, Head of Geography, said: “Field trips are an integral part our of subject and enable students to place theory in reality. These trips build on to the overseas volcano expeditions in the Sixth Form. The students have been exemplary on each trip and we have really enjoyed taking them.”
