Year 8 students have been taking part in a 5-week series of skills workshops delivered in partnership with The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

These interactive workshops are designed to develop employability skills and focus on raising aspirations and achievement. The workshops help focus on areas such as: wellbeing and confidence, Identifying skills and strengths,  employability terminology, team working, active listening and positive behaviours for work.

This is just one of a wide range of activities which run all the way through the school. Other programmes and events include employability workshops and mock interviews with local business leaders, UCAS evenings, partnership / open evenings with visits from universities and apprenticeship providers and Focus Weeks to name a few.

Faye Banks, Careers and Aspirations Coordinator, said: “We are so pleased to host the second series of this interactive skills workshop for our students. The involvement of external presenters from the DWP is of great value to the school and delivers a varied and quality programme to our students enabling and equipping them with a new awareness of skills to use in the future.”
