Our Year 10 boys had their first 11-a-side fixture this season v EDA and got off to a wining start.

Friary won the toss and elected to send in Luan Painter and Jack Yeomans to open the batting. Luan carried on his good form – retiring on 50 off 45 balls – and was aided by a Jack’s 12 off 18. The Friary finishes their innings on 93/2 with a quick fire 7 off 8 balls at the end by Josh Douglass-Boisson.

EDA came roaring out the blocks in their innings – getting to 18 for 1 off the first 2 overs. However, Painter and Yeomans started controlling the run rate after that.

The best performance with the ball must got to Rhys Curtis with figures of 3 overs, 1 maiden, for 3 runs and 3 wickets. Alfie Joines must also get a mention for demonstrating some of the most consistant bowling – always hitting his line and length.

EDA finished well short of the Friary’s total getting to 60/8 therefore losing by 33 runs.

Sam Foster, Head of Performance & Technologies and team coach, said: “The boys played fantastically well and hugely enjoyed the match. They held it together when EDA got off to a flier and then settled to dominate. A great match against good opposition.”
