Students in Years 7 to 9 have been working hard in recent weeks to prepare for our House Independent Learning Competition. The focus was Earth Day and each tutor group entered a team to earn some valuable house points.  Each team had to answer some tricky questions about what they had learnt such as ‘which of these countries emits the most carbon dioxide – China, The USA or the UK?

The competition was tight, with four teams getting 7 points, so the tiebreaker question was required. The winning team consisted of Alex Tharm and Alfie Martin (8D2). 7G2 were in second place and 9S2 were in third position. The winners received 30 house points.

Carrie Cain, Deputy Headteacher, said: “This quiz is a great opportunity to encourage personal research, foster a house spirit and to help students take pride in representing their house. The students did fantastically well and should be very proud of themselves. Congratulations to the winners.”
