To celebrate national careers week and as part of our raising aspiration programme, next week (21-25 March) we are welcoming guests from the below organisations into school to provide students with valuable employer encounters and receive information on careers and apprenticeships.

There is a busy programme of events that provides plenty of insights that open ideas and opportunities up for the future:

Monday 21st March

Balfour Beatty – Room W10 – lesson 2 – 10.10am

Employer encounter to deliver a talk to students and raise awareness of apprenticeships

Year 9.

Tuesday 22nd March

Mercian Regiment – Lecture Theatre – lesson 3 – 11.30am    

Presentation about careers in the Armed Forces and equipment to observe.

Year 8 and students who have expressed specific interest.

Wednesday 23rd March

National Citizen Service  – Library area – break time and lunch time break

Ambassador from NSC providing information stand about programmes and opportunities with NCS.

Friday 25th March

ASK Apprenticeships – Library area – break time and lunch time break

Ambassador and information stand giving students an opportunity to enquire about apprenticeship providers.

Friday 25th March

ASK Apprenticeships – Room W4 &W5 – 11.30am presentation for specific Year 10 & 11 students about apprenticeship types.

Friday 25th March

Independent Careers Advisor – Sixth Form Centre – 8.45am – 9.10am.

Careers assembly and advice and guidance for Year 13 students.

Richard Barnett-Richards, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We are very much a school that seeks to open our students’ eyes up to every opportunity and we are particularly focusing apprenticeships in the week ahead. The university route is a wonderful option, but with spiralling costs the apprenticeship route offers an alternative that we have secured great success with in the past. We are looking forward to welcoming in a whole host of providers so that the plans for working life start now.”
