Trent Rowing Club will be running free ‘Learn to Row’ courses from Saturday 19 March (8.00am-12.30pm) to give anyone a taster session in the sport.
Rowing is great exercise and will help anyone who commits to it both physically and mentally . The main reason rowing workouts are effective is that rowing is a full-body workout from the start. Rowing activates nearly twice the muscle mass as other activities like running and cycling. A single stroke on the rowing machine works your quads, hamstrings, glutes, core, arms, and back muscles. Equally, getting out on water in itself is calming and relaxing too.
Even better, the club are very flexible on timings and welcome both children and adults so it can very much be a family thing.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “The Trent Rowing Club have been very proactive and encouraging participation and we would encourage anyone wishing to give it a go to get in touch. Anyone who watches the Olympics will know what a fantastic sport it is and the opportunity to give it a go without an immediate long-term commitment is really too good to miss.”
