We are very much getting back into the routine of prepping for Summer exams after two years of Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGS) and part of this is re-launching our extensive revision support programme with our Year 11 students.

This programme sees students undertake weekly assemblies dedicated to supporting students in dealing with revision pressures and adopting the approaches and strategies needed to retain the necessary skills and knowledge for final exams.

Elsewhere, Year 11 tutor groups all move into computer rooms so that they have access to online materials and resources in readiness for their exams.

Our weekly Y11 programme is already underway and runs right up to the formal exams begin from W/B Monday 16 May;

W/B 14 March – Investigate Online Revision Resources
W/B 21 March – Memory
W/B 28 March – Revision Planning (looking to the Easter Break)
W/B 4 April – Revision Strategies
W/B 25 April – Revision Planning
W/B 3 May – Positive Thinking
W/B 9 May – Final Checks & Exam Procedures / Requirements

From W/B 16 May Year 11 students will have Pre-Exam Briefings each morning / afternoon before final exams so there are last minute reminders, confidence boosts and handy hints shared just before they walk through the exam hall door.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “Our approaches are tried and tested but after two years of them being filed away we are now dusting them off and rolling them out. We place a great emphasis on every marginal gain we can make for every child and this package of support is part of this mind-set. The mocks have now finished, every student knows where they are and what they need to do, and we have the plans afoot to help them get there. Of course there is pressure, but pressure can only be relieved by this extensive revision back-up.”
