As many of us look ahead to the next few months awaiting offers and confirming places at out chosen Universities, we have taken the time to reflect on the process so far and the support we have received.

The UCAS process begins early in Year 12 and supports all students to research and identify their potential subjects and destinations. During Year 12, a drop-down morning was held, where we were told all about budgeting, personal statements, and the actual process of applying through UCAS. This was really useful as it ensured we started thinking about our next steps early on so that we did not become overwhelmed later on in the year.

Throughout the process, additional speakers were brought in to support us further. These included speakers from De Montfort University regarding what makes a great personal statement and Dr Houldcroft, an ex-friary student and Oxford graduate, who provided invaluable advice on the sort of questions you may be asked in an Oxbridge interview.

As we approach the last few weeks of our education at the Friary, we look forward to supporting the next potential group of students apply to take on the role of the Senior 6 positions and continue to be a voice for the students across the school.

Charlie Bannister, Head Girl, said: “Throughout the whole process the Sixth Form Team provided guidance and as a result I was able to easily meet the requirements necessary to complete my application without stress or confusion.’
