Our annual PTFA Quiz Night emerged from the COVID shutdowns with a packed out Sixth Form seeing the largest turn-out yet with over 100 quizzers doing battle for the team title.

The quiz was co-ordinated by Lindsay Hulme, Chair of the PTFA, the busy bar by Ruth Housley, and the Quizmaster General was James Herbert who gave us rounds ranging from Cheese or Service Station, Old & New Countries, and James Bond theme tunes.

In a close fought competition – with the top 4 teams split by just 6 marks – the winning team was The Fradley Bears who previously won the title back in 2018.

The overall event raised around £1,000 which all goes to the PTFA funds which this year are targeting refurbishment of the theatre.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We were thrilled that so many parents came out and supported the school. It was great to see so many familiar faces who had been stowed away during the lockdowns. We are hoping to see the same fantastic support at our first Comedy Night – tickets available on ParentPay – but after a disappointing first quiz round my priority is now to revise the names of the UK’s service stations and cheeses so that next time I am ready.”
