As a school we are always looking for new angles to get information to students – whether it be traditional lessons, after-school boosters or evening Saturday morning in school.

Of course, nowadays we also have online provision and there are many websites that help out when it comes to learning and revising a subject like Geography.

Helen Young, one of our excellent Geography team, has presented her students with a list of Twitter accounts where students – or anyone – can access the latest thinking, ideas and information about geographical matters.

The broad list includes:

@CECHR_UoD @wef @GeographicalMag @ForestryComm
@geobeachcomber @simongerman600 @US_Stormwatch @thisisgeography
@NatGeo @RGS_IBGschools @BBCScienceNews @BBCEarth
@WBG_Transport @WBG_Climate @WBG_Cities @UNEP
@UNFCCC @UNAIDS @USGSVolcanoes @Sustrans
@RenewableUK @WHO @ONS @ONSgeography
@LFHW_UK @HughsWaronWaste

The students have all been reminded to apply the online safety guidance we put out as an E-Safety Mark School and we have warned student to be aware of unfollowing anything they are uncomfortable with despite these accounts being excellent sources of geography content.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We look to leave no stone unturned in terms of getting our students to access their learning and Twitter provides imaginative and up-to-date content that can add the extra levels of contextual understanding needed to access the top grades. We’re looking forward to seeing how the students get on.”
