Johnson House continues to raise money for St Giles Hospice and our house week has certainly highlighted the generosity of our students here at The Friary. From a chocolate tombola to sponging the teacher, this week has seen a variety of events take place in order to raise funds for the charity, and also to raise awareness of the excellent work they do.

On Thursday 18th November, a member of the St Giles team, Jo Murch, delivered a heart-warming assembly on the work that the charity does. We heard the stories of those who needed palliative care and what lengths the charity would go to in order to provide the best care they could.

Along with our in-school activities, we would like to say a huge thank you to the parents and carers who have donated money via ParentPay.

As the house week draws to a close, the fundraising doesn’t have to. Mr Straw and Mrs Plested have both decided to take on the challenge of running 50 miles for St Giles before the Christmas holidays and will be competing to raise the most money!

Mrs Plested, Head of Johnson house, said: “I am honoured to fundraise for this charity and see our students willing to go out of their way to help donate too. A huge thank you to all the students that have contributed to the bake sales held this week – we certainly have some future Star Bakers for the Great British Bake Off!”
