Year 7 girls played against local schools, King Edwards and Nether Stowe yesterday afternoon in their first official games since they started at the Friary. They have been supported throughout their training by Rebekah Alvarado and Caitlyn Wright, both Sixth Form students who have done a tremendous job helping to get the team ready.

Their first game was against King Edwards. Despite being nervous, the team played a brilliant game, where all girls were very skillful but unfortunately, they lost 5-2.

The next game was against Nether Stowe. They started the game strongly and it was evident they had learnt from their errors and found some form.

Hollie Wright, PE teacher, said: “The girls worked brilliantly to get the ball down to the shooters, while also keeping the defense strong to ensure the ball stayed out of their end. I’m very proud of the team’s attitude and resilience!”
