This week, we remember our soldiers past and present, that have fought and continue to defend our country. One form group from each house has delivered an assembly about the importance and the message behind Remembrance.

We have also been exploring the important humanitarian work of the UK Military Service. The services have been required to supply emergency aid in the aftermath of many disasters, either natural or man-made. Furthermore, the students have understood the important work and support our services have undertaken in order to offer both expert assistance and the personnel needed to create temporary facilities.

Students at the Friary School have been donating money to the British Legion and wearing their poppies with pride as a symbol of their respect and gratitude for the service of those, past and present.

Mrs Plested, Head of Johnson House, said, “I am always so proud to see our students showing respect and being proud to honour our services who are often ‘more than just a military.’”
