Well done to all Year 7, 8 and 9 boys and girls who competed at Aldersley Stadium last Thursday the 7th of June.
It was a very successful afternoon for The Friary School at this summer term’s final event of the Athletics Championships with our athletes winning several events throughout the afternoon.

Headliners included Thomas Larkin who won the 100m as well as the 200m events for the Year 7 boys. Furthermore, Abbie Pendlebury and Millie John managed to win their respective high and long jump events for the Year 7 girls.
Equally, it was also a rewarding afternoon for our Year 8 boys and girls, seeing Morgan Carter winning two events and Jenson Peake beating the runner-up by 16 seconds in the 1500m run.

Elsewhere, Harry O’Donnell won the high jump and Kyle Curtis the 300m for the Year 9 boys and Erin Staite triumphed in her 800m run.
Sam Foster, Head of PE, said: “Overall The Friary School did very well but special praise has to go out to our Year 7 girls & Year 9 boys relay teams who put in a great team performance to win the final competition. There are plenty of talents who are going to shine over the next few years.”
