Y7 & Y8 students from The Friary went back to their former primary school, Henry Chadwick, in Hill Ridware, to help out at their Sports Day.

The six students helped to run events and to work with their former peers (as well put their younger siblings in their place) and whether the event was the long distance or the egg-and-spoon, or the obstacle course or the sprints, they all ran incredibly smoothly.

The involvement is part of our close ties with the school and connects into our wider programme of work with local primary schools – with several attending a recent advance showing of ‘Bugsy Malone’.

Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It was fantastic to be involved in Henry Chadwick’s sports day and we know that our transition arrangements proceed more smoothly when our Year 6s see that the step up into secondary school will be fun, happy and successful. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day, touched base with old friends and set a fantastic example.”
