This week sees us celebrating Volunteering Week and this gives every student the chance to enter a free prize draw.

All students have to do is simply send in a photo of themselves volunteering to volunteeringprizedraw@friaryschool.co.uk or simply drop it in to Pupil Enquiries.

The volunteering may be as a sports leader or contributing with a community group, it could be helping out at home or at school, maybe doing something for their grandparents or even washing up at home!

The week will see a range of external providers – who offer volunteering opportunities in our local community – visiting the school including the Guides, the Scouts, the Air Force Cadets, Riding with the Disabled, Free Spirit Horse Memorial, GETIN2IT Sports, Lichfield & Hatherton Canal Trust, St John’s Ambulance and Duke of Edinburgh.

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “Not only does volunteering mark you out as a thoughtful and kind person, but it also develops a wide range of skill sets and CV-building examples for the future. We would encourage all students to take any volunteering opportunities that come their way – and maybe this week can be the kick-start for a greater role in the future.
