Seb Nash’s ‘As Time Stood Still’ was amongst the very best entries for our Remembrance art and poetry competition and he joined Myles Thain in laying our school wreath at the  National Arboretum:

As Time Stood Still

As time stood still, remembrance was at best,
As time stood still, we embraced their poppy on our chests,
As time stood still, up to heaven we had gazed,
As time stood still, we watched when angels raised.
As time stood still.

When tears started to fall, all hatred was lost,
When tears started to fall, onto the early morning frost,
When tears started to fall, love and forgiveness was seen,
When tears started to fall, the whole world became a team,
When tears started to fall.

As lives were lost, many people cried,
As lives were lost, friends and family died,
As lives were lost, only broken lives were left to remain,
As lives were lost, the world would never be the same,
As lives were lost.

When time was nearly up, the poppies stood big and tall,
When time was nearly up, emotions spread through us all,
When time was nearly up, music began to play,
When time was nearly up, the world turned to today,
When time was nearly up.

As time stands still,
We remember those who helped.

Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It has been fantastic to see two Year 9 boys take such a lead in creative writing and we are hugely proud of the efforts of Seb Nash, and Myles Thain, in writing their Remembrance poems and for taking on the responsibility of laying the school wreath this year.”
