Y13 students enjoyed a ‘Cooking for One’ workshop in school with Chartwells providing the expertise to teach student show they can eat cheaply and healthily as they look to move out of home and onto university.

The session included guidance from a professional chef on how to prepare cottage pie, spaghetti bolognaise and chilli con carne.

The cost of the ingredients came in at just 48p each so this really as about cooking well on a tight budget.

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We take great pride in making sure we prepare our students every step of the way and this session was very much about opening their eyes to university life. Everyone enjoyed the experience, they have definitely been skilled up, and none of the students involved are now going to starve!”
