As The Friary School produces ever more impressive Sixth Form results, we are focusing even more attention on making sure that our students get the best possible support in their Oxbridge applications (Oxford and Cambridge Universities).

Our Oxbridge Mentoring Scheme sees a raft of personalised support including:

  • Personalised UCAS support from tutors and Sixth Form staff.
  • Subject specific entrance exam training.
  • Oxbridge Clinics delivered by Aspirations Mentor during the summer term of Y12 and on-going support writing personal statements.
  • Y12 Attendance at Oxbridge Conferences.
  • Aspirations Evenings with sessions delivered by Oxbridge lecturers about entrance into Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group Universities.
  • Cambridge talk by Dr Charlotte Houldcroft – a Friary Alumni.
  • Inter-school invites to attend talks by visiting Oxford and Cambridge University.
  • Mock interviews.

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, said: “Post-18 applications are so important to us as a school as being clear on the entry requirements for your destination focuses every students’ mind on what they need to do in their final exams. The Oxbridge applications always come around first and we are proud to have such a comprehensive support programme, not least because we benefit from Oxbridge links which are unique to us.”
