We are delighted to report that the students and staff of The Friary School have produced excellent Sixth Form results this summer with an overall pass rate of 99%.

Amidst a glut of superb performances, there were plenty of exceptional results which culminated in places at top-ranked universities:

Megan Jacobs – A*AA Mai Pengelly – A*AB Aimee Rigby – A*AB

James Wilson – A*BB Charlie Barton – ABB Rosie Beale – ABB

These high grades meant that there were outstanding results in a series of academic subjects with English Literature, Further Maths, History, Physics, Music and Sociology standing out. Equally, the vocational courses shone, most notably in the Science, Performing Arts and ICT.

Additionally, the all-important progress measurement came in as positive, our extra-curricular Extended Project Qualification saw every entrant achieve A*-B, LAMDA results were 100% at the highest grades, and the Year 12 results were much improved on last year which bodes well for Summer 2018.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard and these results are only the sum of two years of real graft. We were truly delighted to see so many happy faces as the envelopes were opened. Looking forward, the new curriculum we have in place and the Year 12 results suggest future results are only going to improve further.”

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher – Sixth Form, said: “Our students have made this an excellent summer for our school and we are so proud of all they have achieved. Our Sixth Form provision has undergone real change this year and it is great to see that we are already reaping the rewards from our new approaches and brave decisions. The push on teaching and learning in lessons, the Saturday School programme and the new Sixth Form Centre are making a difference and there is so much more to come.”
