Year 12 students enjoyed a week’s work experience through W/B 17th July with placements arranged in a wide range of local and national public and private sector organisations.

Emilio Paolo arranged his placement with Kier Construction, who are currently nearing the end of their building work for the new police station on Eastern Avenue.

Others went further afield, with Molly Roche Allen enjoying a placement at Ernst & Young accountants in London, Tom Hayward working at the Brighton Dome concert hall and Skylah Eames studying with scientist and PhD students’ reading cosmology and astrophysics at Manchester University.

Skylah Eames, Y12 student, said: “My work placement allowed me to experience the most cutting edge science at the forefront of human discovery. It has really helped me get a flavour for which university course I will be most suited to.”

Carrie Cain, Assistant Headteacher, added: “The work placements are a valuable part of our wider Raising Aspiration programme and we look to seize every opportunity we can to ensure our students have a head start on their competitors as they apply for universities, apprenticeships and employment. We have had wonderful feedback on all of our students and, as well as getting a lot out of it for working life, they have also made us very proud.”
