Many students and parents will have seen the Friary’s wonderful offering for the Hare & Tortoise Trail that winds through our city but if you want to get up-close-and-personal to our hare then the place to go is just outside the outside The Kitchen Shop in Lichfield.

Our hare has certainly attracted much acclaim but if you want to get on friendly terms be aware his name is Jan (after a famous Dutch artist called Jan Vermeer). You can voice your support for Jan and the hares by using the hashtag #Teamhare wherever you can !

Jan, the other hares, and each tortoise, will be auctioned off at 3.00pm on Saturday 15th July on the Cathedral Lawns by Richard Winterton, and having been initially funded by the Friary PTA, any profits from the auction go straight back onto PTA coffers.

Lottie Hearn, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We place a very high emphasis on being at the heart of community events and there was no way we were not going to get involved in this initiative. It is important that our city celebrates itself, that we talk it up and that we play our part. It is just this sort of positive engagement that benefits every single one of us.”
