Our Year 10 cricket team came out as District winners after defeating Erasmus Darwin Academy (EDA) in a very close and high entertaining final.

The Friary batted first and scored 63 runs for 0 wickets in their allocated 5 overs with Josh Brammall (25) and Marcus John (16) batting all the way through the innings

In reply EDA continued to keep up with the scoring rate but lost a couple of wickets to excellent catches by Josh Worrall and Marcus John. They needed 4 runs off the last ball to tie and 6 runs to win and Josh Worrall delivered a perfect yorker which EDA could only score 1 run.

Oli Forster, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We are delighted to see another District victory – after recent successes in the Rounders – and are immensely proud of the Year 10 team. We have further finals for Year 8 and Year 9 so fingers crossed this will be only the first victory.”
