On Thursday 25th May Year 10 Business Studies students went on an excellent adventure to Cadbury World.

The Business controlled assessment relies almost totally on each student carrying out their own research and investigations in order to write up a report. All students gained a real insight into the production, packaging and marketing at one of the UK’s largest confectionery plant.

Students received a talk about the marketing techniques used by Cadbury, which specifically looked at how new products are introduced to the market and who they are targeted towards. The talk also looked at branding, and how the large variety of products have their own individual branding.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip, gorged on lots of chocolate but most importantly learnt a lot. Even so, the extreme heat meant personal and family gifts melted into a different form on the way back to school.

Oli Forster, Assistant Headteacher, said: “We chose the vocational route for Business as it includes greater practical experiences of the business world and gives student a better insight into real-life scenarios. This trip very much buys into this and the research and experience gathered will ensure that controlled assessments are of a better standard and produce a strong set of results.”
